I married a Blade. I know that’s not uncommon in these parts, but I’m from Wigan, and I was supposed to marry a Latic!
Since I moved over to Doncaster to be with him, my hubby has been slowly converting me into a Unitedite. I watch the matches on TV whenever I can. Sadly, I can’t go to the games with him, as I can’t manage the steps in the ground and don’t like crowds. That means I’m now a football widow. He goes off to the match on a Saturday and I’m left at home to do the chores (and watch telly with my feet up eating chocolates, but don’t tell him!). He comes home deflated or elated and I deal with that like any other football widow. I ignore him and put the kettle on!
Not long after the Rainbow Blades were formed, we both joined. It was lockdown, and we had social events on Zoom. After lockdown we started with in-person socials, and we quickly became part of the Rainbow Blades family. It’s great to feel acceptance from the club and Rainbow Blades, even though I’m from the “wrong” side of the Pennines.
