Matchday Social

A pub. London Road. Rainbow Blades pre-match social. Red and white galore. Mine’s a Guinness. Your round? You sure?
Vintage shirts. Home shirts. Names on the back of shirts. A red and white jungle. United flags and the odd Blades Bucket hats. Plenty of the new away shirts with the glorious Red stripe. Like a Harry Maguire diagonal.
“Room for one more?” “Always mate”.
A table in a pub on London Road, but it’s so much more than that. Here, there’s a place for everyone. And even though you might not know it yet, you are welcome and you belong. Because being a Blade means you’re part of a red and white family. Whether you’ve been a Blade days, months, years or decades, whether you’re single, courting, dating, married, divorced, like men, women, both or neither, you are welcome here. A place to be. To socialise, celebrate, commiserate; to show support for the Blades and each other.
Pints emptied. Senses filled. Now, onto the Lane.
26 thousand in the second tier. This is proper football. The games gone? Nah, the games just getting going.
