" I believe that people feeling valued, supported, and feeling able to be themselves will only get the best out of people."

Ellie Wilson

Ellie Wilson is a Full Back for Wolves Women.

Ellie was born in Windsor and has played for Bristol City, London Bees and the mighty Blades, before moving to Wolves.

Predominantly, Ellie plays full back (right-footed) but has played in more advanced positions as well as centre back on occasions. Ellie was scouted at an after-school multi-sports club by one of Reading’s Community coaches and from there trialled for about four years before getting into the academy. In the meantime, Ellie joined a local team that was affiliated with Reading and the academy.

Ellie enjoyed watching Michael Owen play when she was first getting into football. Seeing him scoring loads of goals for England was something that stuck with Ellie at the time. The first shirt Ellie ever owned ended up being the 05/06 England shirt, Owen 10.

Ellie represented England at Under 19, 20 and 23 level

Former Sheffield United Player Ellie Wilson says "I'm thrilled to be part of the Rainbow Blades family! I think what rainbow Blades are doing and everything they support is spot on and so important. It’s important to bring the community together and be fully inclusive of everyone, not only in a football environment but in general and I think Rainbow Blades really emphasises this message. I believe that people feeling valued, supported, and feeling able to be themselves will only get the best out of people and everyone deserves to feel that regardless of their gender, sexuality, race etc. I love that through Rainbow Blades and through football we can highlight diversity and have a positive impact on inclusion here at Sheffield United."

Rainbow Blades Founder & Chair, James Laley says "We are absolutely delighted and honoured that Ellie Wilson has joined our Team of Ambassadors. It's extremely important to have wide representation from across Sheffield United FC. Having spoken with Ellie, I know how passionate she is about people reaching their full potential when they are able to be their authentic selves. Ellie & Sheffield United Women are already an inspiration to so many young people and my hope is this will continue to encourage LGBTQ+ people to get involved with football & know that Sheffield United welcomes everyone."
